Comments:

I graduated from U of M and its Law School. I married Pamela Colburn who also graduated from UM. We have been married 49years and have  2 UM graduate children, who live out of state with our 5 grandchildren.  We are all true blue Michigan fans.

Both Pam and I manage to find time to travel, while still enjoying  the rigors of full time employment.  I stay busy with my law practice, specializing in health law and federal and state whistleblower cases.  I am also involved with charitable boards and am an adjunct health law professor at UM Law School in Ann Arbor. Pam owns an insurance agency with her brother.

School Story:

I recently represented the whistleblower who brought down Farid Fata, Detroit's infamous "Cancer Doc or Dr. Evil" who diagnosed hundreds of patients with cancer who did not have the dreaded disease and over treated those that did with chemo for longer than appropriate or in excessive doses. Fata is now doing the equivalent of life (he is in his 50s and is serving a 45 year sentence) in federal prison and the whistleblower will receive a $1.7 million reward under the civil federal False Claims Act case we filed. We were recently featured in 2nd episode on www.cbs.com/Whistleblower series.

David, There are two groups on Facebook 1) for Vernorites, 2) for those who grew up in Detroit 21, or 35. I couldn't find you on Facebook, so these are useless to you. I like them so much. No arguing, no politics, just old memories. Hope you are well. Susie

It’s bad up there but outside of nasser, it’s a problem at most schools. MSU is a 2nd rate institution that tried to make a run at big time performance (and v successfully at that). It’s hard to compete with the osus, bama in football or duke, Kentucky in hoops if u don’t have the big time
Money behind you. With finals fours and b10 championships came more Donor money and control moved to those guys. It’s easy to say that the coaches shldve done more but imagine the heat they wldve gotten from Donors. Izzo cldve stood up, kicked guys off the team and had worse performance. But do it too much, pass up too many tourney runs and donors wld go nuts. Dantonio cldve stood up to it but a couple bad yrs and he’s gone. He cldnt compete if he didn’t take guys who were a little shady. I’m sure if those guys asked donors what they thought they shld do and they wldve likely said sweep it under the rugs. It happens at a lot of places. It’s a broken system. College sports dictate everything on campuses and it’s a mess. Truthfully look at Grant Perry on Michigan. He had a sexual assault charge and still played this yr bc we needed a veteran wr. He 100% shldve been kicked off the team. Really think one of the few who wld stand up and wldnt accept any of it is Beilein. And most people think he’s too clean.
